About Us
The Nyamwange Foundation was formed with the mission to be a catalyst for positive change and improving urban cities around the world one child at a time. Our approach is based on leveraging three key ideals: scholarship, empowerment through self-identity, and community service.
Systemic issues faced by communities of color are real, and in a world where many people watch idly from the sidelines or respond solely with catchy social media posts and fleeting hashtag movements, we have purposed to utilize our passion, resources, and influence to champion solutions that actually make a difference.
Through partnerships with individual, corporate, and non-profit donors, in the last two years alone we’ve been able to launch leadership programs for high school students of color, celebrate recipients of our college scholarships, created a yearly travel experience for youth of African descent to travel to East Africa, and sent service packages with medical equipment, school supplies, and 3 months of food to an orphanage in Kenya.
Over the next decade, we have a vision to transform the lives of 1,000 children around the world, ensuring that this generation of young minds has the resources, education, and support to thrive in a way they never dreamed of before.
Our Recipes For Impacting Change
Scholarship
Education is by far the most pivotal pillar in realizing our grand vision. To that end, we’ve started the Nyamwange Foundation Scholarship, which awards $1,000 every year to 6 students in Jersey City, Baltimore, and Washington DC public schools. These scholarships are provided based on the applicants’ academic performance, leadership qualities, and strength of application, and each recipient is automatically enrolled in our Leadership Development Program and celebrated at the end of each year during our Scholarship Dinner.

The Nyamwange Leadership Academy develops in its students the mindset required to become effective leaders in the world today. We have some of the brightest, experienced individuals on our academic team who create and deliver dynamic development programs that empower our students to have the abilities to impact significant change in their schools, communities, households, and worldwide. The Academy goes beyond mere theory and academics by having trips to take students to various parts of the country and the world so that they have a practical understanding of what it means to be an advocate to those less fortunate on this planet. Students will emerge from the Nyamwange Leadership Academy feeling comfortable and confident carving a space where they are able to lead at a high level.

Our vision to strengthen our global community has inspired us to form partnerships with numerous worthy organizations across the world, including Motherly Care Children Home (MCCH). Together, we have been able to provide care and support for orphaned, impoverished, abused, and otherwise disadvantaged children in Kenya.
The Nyamwange Foundation also awards non-profit/faith-based organizations grants of $1,000 which are used towards community service and are based on the applicant’s proactive involvement in the community and commitment to improving society.

Words cannot explain the gratitude I have for the Nyamwange Foundation for giving Keith the chance to experience what he and I agree on as a trip of a lifetime. The time spent in Africa through his own words was amazing, uplifting and exhilarating.
